Discarded plastic fishing ropes were contaminating the delicate ecosystem of Patagonia. An inspirational project began with the aim of collecting the ropes and recycling them into high-quality products. But the ropes were made of two imcompatible materials that wouldn’t mix and couldn’t be separated. ExxonMobil collaborated with Atando Cabos to design a solution. The goal of this campaign was to help global plastics and recycling industry players become aware of ExxonMobil’s involvement in this recycling effort by promoting the Atando Cabos case study and the role of Vistamaxx in its continued success. This story is a great example of “Think local, act global.” It impacts local communities (Patagonia) but carries a human-interest element with global appeal – promotional materials created in English, Portuguese, Chinese and Spanish. #rethinkrecycle
